WIP: Black Earth UEF Lieutenant...

...you might remember me ordering a few miniatures from Black Earth after pledging on their Kickstarter - well they arrived safely this morning and I have to say I'm delighted and, I have to admit, a little surprised. The photos on the website don't really do the models justice. They are very cleanly cast in resin, requiring only the minimum of 'clean-up' and the detail is excellent. I ordered the aforementioned Lieutenant, the EUF Infantry Squad and the EUF 'Hulk' Battlesuit (more on the latter two at a later date) and on arrival immediately built (body, two arms and head) the Lieutenant and the Mech's cockpit (pilot is excellent and there is some detail in the cockpit that I will add to). There is something about the aesthetic of these figures that really appeals to me - I love the chunky look to the troopers armour and the design of the helmet (this is what 40K Cadians should look like!).

...sixth passenger (although he might end up as a vehicle crewman).

WIP: Antenociti 28mm 'Roc' Dropship...

...I might use one of Antenocitis 'Komodo' suits (sadly out of production but I do have three) instead of the McVey T.H.I Utility Carapace. Problem is it doesn't look like it could fit in the cargo hold of the 'Roc' without folding or sitting in some way that is not immediately obvious. The one below was painted a several years ago so I'm just giving it a minor repaint and tidy-up.

'Dropship Dave'...

...an online friend christened me that a few months ago because I build and paint so many dropships. I admit it - I do have a penchant for dropships (must stem from the first viewing of 'Aliens') and have painted quite a few both in 15mm and 28mm. My friend has a few in his collection. I have seven in various stages of building and painting and keep going back and forth between them. The 'Roc' has priority at the moment but next in the queue is the second 'Superhawk' I have. At the moment it has just been basecoated, highlighted, edged, shaded and decalled (not immediately visible as I have gone for a very subdued scheme as might befit a special forces transport). It will remain in the monochrome scheme but I will add ID band of a different colour to make it more visually interesting.

WIP: Antenociti 'Roc' Dropship...

...gets two more passengers. I've just noticed I've missed the markings off the rifles and armour, like the last two, still needs insignia and rank markings. I wasn't happy with the ones I added to the first one so will wait until they are all painted and decide what to do then.

WIP: Antenocitis 28mm 'Roc' Dropship...

...I thought the cockpit was looking a little too monochromatic so I added a bit of colour with decals. I've also completed two more 'passengers'.

Kickstarter: Black Earth - 'Heavy Metal'...

...Lovely looking models on this KS - yes I've pledged! Intrigued and interested and impatient I thought i'd order a few 28mm figures already available on their website but had a few difficulties at checkout. Soon sorted by the very helpful gentleman in charge, Thank you Yannis and good luck with the Kickstarter (it's almost funded so he may not need it!). Looking forward to getting them on the painting desk!
I'll get back to you with a review and WIP as soon as they arrive. Below are renders of two of the vehicles, the 'Bulldog' heavy tank and the 'Minotaur' IFV, and for the modellers and collectors among us, a small vignette stretch goal which really takes my fancy!
