Fenris 'Ark' bases...

...120mm oval and round

coming in 2012 from...

...Antenociti's Workshop. First up is possibley the Viper Scout Car. Here's the concept...

and the 3D print. It has a detailed interior and seperate, gull-wing doors.

Going to be a very big seller I think! There will also be a new, heavier scout car  - a Warthog Mk2 called 'Staghound' I think - I can't find the excellent concept painting so here's one of the renders...

There's a 'Spider' mech too...

and some new troops...

and feast your eyes (and keep your fingers crossed - 15 and 28mm) on this!

on the table for January...

...2012. First up is Jeremy's last adventurer which I hope to finish this week/next week

and then five more of his Elysian/Cadian conversions.
I 've also been asked to paint another 1/20 'Sasha' (for Neil) and she is now ready for priming. The first Sasha was a 3D print this latest Sasha is a resin casting in kit form which needed a little work (a little filling here and there and the use of a hairdryer to aid fit of one or two parts - left arm/hand to goggles benefited greatly from the elasticity of resin when subjected to a safe ie not a naked flame; hot water or the aforementioned hairdryer are ideal heat source) during the building process.

For some reason the resin casting is slightly bigger than the 3D print. Something to do with the creation of the mould maybe?
I have a complete set of T-Pea troopers to paint for a friend - no's 2-5 are on the table (you may  have seen no.1 in an earlier post)

There are two Fenris 120mm Ark bases on the table which I'll photograph tomorrow.
Christmas week is never a great time for painting - I never get a decent, uninterrupted period of time but I have managed to grab a few hours here and there for building and preparing a few 'vehicles'...eg Forgeworld's resin Elysian 'Taurus' vehicles which I've had for quite some time but initially had difficulty fitting the axles...

thinking of painting them in this scheme...

I also have these two, very nice Tractor Muls from the Infinity range which I received just before Christmas...

...and they fit nicely with most minis eg

There are a few more Grymn, a squad vehicle and possibley a flyer too (for the life of me I can't remember where I got this from)

Also in January I'm hoping to receive the marines from Defiance Games and the 6x6 Rapid Assualt Vehicle from Secret Weapon Miniatures

More tomorrow or Friday and I'll look at Antenociti's plans for 2012 and post some news about minis I'll be putting up for sale.

Merry Christmas...

...if you celebrate it; if not let me wish you a very healthy 2012! I'll be back next week with a report on what I'll be painting in the first few weeks of the new year...

Monday 19 December 2011

Hey Steve....

...do you think this 'Raven' suits the Grymn aesthetic?

What ever happened to DLD productions I wonder. I always thought I might buy a few of the range but never got around to it before they ceased trading. Managed to pick this and a couple of other items up from ebay a while back. Great little kit with lots of detail and, but for a few minor flaws, cast excellently. Scale-wise I think it's nearer 25 than 28mm (figures included for the driver's and commander's hatches have helmets cast from Denizen Federation troopers which I still have loads of) so would seem ideal for Denizen, GZG and possibley Hasslefree 'troopers' (of which there may soon be a few more). The Grymn seem ok too.
Anyway, a few more pics...

has it's own base too...

Going to build the Komodo next...

Thursday 15 December 2011

more Grymn...

...bigger pics. You might just be able to make out the 'Walker' schematic on the laptop.

more Grymn...

...these three have been re-painted in the new scheme.

the four so far...

Grymn: better pics...

...hopefully. Fiddled with the lighting set-up as, quite often, I manage to loose the highlighting somehow.

More 'Ark' bases...

from Fenris Games. As with the previous four larger ones (I'll post the actual sizes soon - never sure what's what!) some detail work and fading of the base colour still to be done.

Tuesday 6 December 2011

Grymn: in anticipation of....

...the new Grymn walker I decided to trial another scheme (not being over-enamoured with the first) and took the advice of a Grymn expert (thanks Inso) and reversed the scheme - armour camoed and fatigues plain.

First four 'Ark' bases...

...with a base coat and wear and tear scraped into the surface. Some fading of the base colour and a fair bit of detailing to do.

Painting a few ...

...Fenris 'Ark' and some new 'tech' bases from Antenociti (nya). They've been primed and painted with rusty shades - very roughly as they will be overpainted and 'wearied' using the hairspray technique I used for the first 'Ark' bases I painted a few posts ago.

Alien War....

...I've been asked if I'd be interested in painting miniatures from the new range by Defiance Games - they look fantastic so, of course, I replied "yes". The first to be released are the USMC closely followed by the Bundeswehr. Full review and WIP when I receive them.

Although they'll be sending me minis to paint I've also ordered two sets of the Marines for my own collection. Lots of conversion potential - 24 figures; seperate heads (3 variations I think); choice of weapons; and all in hard plastic!
