...but I came across a few images of the surprising, nicely detailed interior (cabling and roof interiors included) and some clever conversions that replaced those awful track units with wheels and even found a wheel and suspension conversion kit by Victoria Miniatures and thought if I get rid of the obvious GW motifs (skulls, exhausts, insignia etc) it might make a decent, futuristic MRAP type vehicle. Anyway...I've made a start. It is possible, with a little work, to have the VM wheels 'steered' - I've fixed mine in this position.
As an experiment I replaced the kit driver's head with one of Anvil Industry's spare Unity Council Marine heads and it fits very well but in the photo below it seems to be staring straight at the camera as if to say 'what are you doing to me!?'
...to return to 1/35th and the Industria Mechanika 'Kastor'. I've airbrushed a coat of 'rust', varnished it, covered it with hairspray, added a a base colour of 'scale' black (Dark Blue Grey) to represent a priming coat and removed a fair amount of the 'primer' by wetting the surface and scrubbing with several sizes and shapes of paintbrushes. I've then added several different and lighter shades of rust with a sponge. The surface has been re-varnished ready for another coat of hairspray and the base colour of the camo scheme.
