White Dragon Miniatures : 'Shattered Void' 15mm troopers..

...if you are going to Salute on Saturday and you're a 15mm gamer then you are in for a very pleasant surprise; White Dragon Miniatures are previewing a new range of highly detailed, perfectly proportioned 15mm sci-fi troopers which will soon be joined by the huge 'Proteus' Frontline Mech and several other support vehicles. If you're on Facebook check out their page and keep a look out for the 'Shattered Void' Kickstarter on June 1st this year.
Alan from WDM sent me a few of the troopers a while ago but I haven't had permission to post them on the blog until now. Bigger pics just a click away!

  1. Can I ask what colours you went with here? I've some ships to paint and these troops are similar to what I was thinking. Thanks!

  2. Solid looking force. nice minis and paint. 15mm is a really cool scale for sci-fi. I would love to see more people embrace it.

DB - thanks. I'm trying to wean myself off 15mm but so much good stuff being released...

  4. I saw them at Salute, but being resin (don't think the barrels would last) and at £1 a figure, as nice as they are, I don't think they are good value.

  6. I was a bit concerned about the barrels too but they survived the journey to my home and then back to WDM without damage!

  7. I think they look fantastic and £1 a model is a fair price for 15s -- it's just that market expectations on 15mm pricing are still stuck in the 80s, when you bought 15s to do huge armies on the cheap and could barely tell what they were by looking at them. Standards have improved and now 15s are looking great, as these indicate. For me, the only issue is the resin, although proper handling should safeguard them. One idea is for them to separate the front part of the weapon as a separate piece and cast those drop-in gun fronts in pewter.

  8. Just to quickly correct Mad Mecha Guy, they worked out at about 83 pence each as you get 6 of the chaps for a fiver. The resin used with these guys isn't the brittle, frail type that most people associate with resin, but a much more flexible and durable one. There's very little difference between the damage both materials could take at the scale so it's no worry. Treat them the same way you do your metal mini's and they'll be fine, maybe even bounce a bit if dropped off the table rather than a heartstopping "thunk!".

Hope that's cleared up a few questions chaps! :)

  9. I was initially concerned by the price, but when you hold them and see the amount of detail they've managed to get in there, you'll see that they are more than with it!
